{"id":2606,"date":"2015-03-13T16:06:29","date_gmt":"2015-03-13T16:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/?p=2606"},"modified":"2015-03-13T16:06:29","modified_gmt":"2015-03-13T16:06:29","slug":"vm_365-day-257-roman-bottle-from-ramsgate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/?p=2606","title":{"rendered":"VM_365 Day 257 Roman bottle from Ramsgate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2616\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/VM-257.jpg\" alt=\"VM 257\" width=\"600\" height=\"826\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s image for Day 257 of VM_365 shows a Roman bottle that was found in a grave excavated in Ramsgate in 2007.\u00a0 The grave has <a title=\"VM_365 Day 254 late 3rd to Early 4th Century grave from Ramsgate\" href=\"http:\/\/thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/?p=2593\">featured in previous VM_365 posts, <\/a>along with <a title=\"VM_365 Day 253 Roman Copper Alloy bracelet\" href=\"http:\/\/thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/?p=2586\">the finds that were present in the grave, <\/a><a title=\"VM_365 Day 256 Colour Coated Roman Beaker from Ramsgate Roman Grave\" href=\"http:\/\/thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/?p=2611\" target=\"_blank\">the individual pottery vessels<\/a> and evidence for the <a title=\"VM_365 Day 255 Roman Hobnails in a grave from Ramsgate\" href=\"http:\/\/thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/?p=2600\">hob nailed shoes the young woman was buried with<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This bottle is classified as Pollard type 169 and has been manufactured in pinkish-brown Hoo St Werburgh fabric. It has a chipped rim, which may have been caused by the flint which was used as a stopper.
