{"id":1274,"date":"2014-08-26T16:36:25","date_gmt":"2014-08-26T16:36:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/?p=1274"},"modified":"2014-08-26T16:36:25","modified_gmt":"2014-08-26T16:36:25","slug":"vm_365-day-58-grave-assemblage-from-grange-road-ramsgate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/?p=1274","title":{"rendered":"VM_365 Day 58 Grave assemblage from Grange Road, Ramsgate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1305\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/VM-58.jpg\" alt=\"VM 58\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Following on from<a title=\"VM_365 Day 56 Ramsgate and the Romans\" href=\"http:\/\/thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/?p=1289\"> Day 56&#8217;s<\/a> image of one of the Roman graves excavated at Grange Road, Ramsgate, today&#8217;s image shows one of the grave assemblages from the same site.<\/p>\n<p>This assemblage was found in the grave of an adult female who was buried wearing a copper alloy twisted wire bracelet and was wearing foot wear with hobnails.\u00a0 The assemblage you can see in this picture was found at the foot end of the grave and included a second copper alloy bracelet, a pottery dish, a flagon stoppered with a flint and a beaker. If you look carefully, you can also see a length of copper alloy wire, near the dish that may have been twisted around a fabric bag.<\/p>\n<p>It was items like this that <a title=\"VM_365 Day 57  Ramsgate\u2019s lost artefacts, where are they now?\" href=\"http:\/\/thanetarch.co.uk\/journal\/?p=1296\">Hicks<\/a> was recovering in the new developments in this area of the town in the 19th century.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following on from Day 56&#8217;s image of one of the Roman graves excavated at Grange Road, Ramsgate, today&#8217;s image shows one of the grave assemblages from the same site.
